Saving by Doing Little Things

Here is a weekend project for you. Look into ways you can save money a little bit a ta time. It really does add up. I started bringing my lunch to work instead of always buying it. I still do buy it about once per week.

Buying lunch every day costs $5-$8 on average. Lets say $6 to make it simple. Bringing your lunch costs money, but far less. To make it simple, call it $1. So, on average, bringing your lunch saves $5 per day. Do this 4 times per week and you save $20 per week or $80 per month. That is $960 over the course of a year! Think of what you can do with almost $1000. That could be an extra weekend away or a nice supplement to your Roth IRA or emergency fund.
I bet you could save thousands of dollars each year by cutting Starbucks, bringing your lunch, and doing other little things that add up.

Mighty Bargain Hunter gives a great list of things like these that can save you a bunch of money. Check it out.
