Today I Saved Money and Helped My Heart

by Eric on March 16, 2009

I do not exercise nearly enough. I know that. I last went to the gym about two years ago. I generally sit almost the entire day outside of biking from my house to class for about 15 total each day.

Today I did something good for myself and saved money. I did not drive to the light rail station. I did not take the train. I did not deal with parking. I jumped on my bike at home and about seven miles later arrived at my office. I biked to work.

This is a great idea if you live within ten miles of where you work. It saves on all of the gas and wear and tear expenses of driving and is good for you. Of course, you need a decent bike to go farther than a couple of miles. It just took about five minutes on Google Maps to figure out the best route to avoid traffic and highways.

My heart thanked me when I got to the office. So did my wallet.
