Why I Told You Not To Sell Stocks

by Eric on November 6, 2008

I told you a few weeks ago that it would be a bad time to sell stocks. It would even be a good time to buy. Here is why:

After the markets go down, they always go back up. If you sold after that first dive, or the second, third, or fourth, you would not have been there to ride it back up. The market always comes back.

If you had bought telecom stocks or tech stocks while the bubble was bursting, this would not have worked. At the bottom I bought GE. General Electric is one of the most stable companies in the United States. They are not a trend or a fad. I bought under $18 per share. Now it is riding up and up over twenty.

Buy low, sell high. When people are selling, it is time to buy. Don’t expect to walk away with returns in a week though. The smartest investment is a long term investment.

Are you looking at any companies to invest in today?
