Tracking Stocks Online

by Eric on November 2, 2008

We all have many options to track stocks online. Some well known tools are Yahoo! Finance, Google Finance, BigCharts.com, MorningStar, and the tools from your brokerage of choice. Those are all no cost options that give you different ways to look at your investments.

The limits of the encyclopedia were overcome by Wikipedia, and the limits of online stock sites was tackled by wikinvest.com. The investments Wiki is a collaborative website that gives you charts and analysis for publicly traded companies.

The Wiki Invest pages give you a full analysis and synopsis of each company discussed along with charts and news events discussing a company’s history. The charts are similar to those at Google Finance, but the analysis is put together in the Wiki fashion, by the community.

The site gives you reasons to be Bullish and reasons to be Bearish on the stock and user voting on the issues. The contributors are not all professional investment analysts, so you can’t trust them all. However, you can get good insights on the pros and cons of a company and learn about the company’s business and operations.

I would not use this as your only tool in investment decisions (I found a few outdated observations), but I would definitely put it in your investment arsenal.
